Luxor Hotel Review

Luxor Hotel Review
May 11, 2020 /
My husband and I got married in Las Vegas at the Luxor Hotel at the wedding chapel on site. The wedding experience was amazing. I had visited Luxor several times on my past trips to Vegas when we would hotel/casino hop on the strip. I thought the Luxor was gorgeous on the inside and outside. However, unfortunately my impressions of the pyramid room did not match up to the beauty of the exterior of the hotel and the common areas.

Rooms

There are different sections of the Luxor so some rooms are more updated than others. I HIGHLY recommend staying in the tower rooms opposed to the updated pyramid rooms. Definitely ask before booking if you are guaranteed an updated room. We stayed in a pyramid room for our wedding, which was not updated. My mother and children also stayed in a pyramid room. (They had to be moved once because the ceiling had a water leak. However, Luxor promptly moved them). I have stayed in Mandalay Bay, Paris and Bellagio rooms, and the older not updated pyramid room at the Luxor was rated at the bottom of my list. However, I would definitely stay at Luxor again by staying in a different room.

Food that I tried:

The Buffet at Luxor- The buffet was delicious and if you are into an adult refreshment, they even offer an unlimited Happy Hour for a low price. My children loved the food at the buffet, even my pickiest of eaters!

Starbucks- A shout out to the Starbucks that saved me the morning of my wedding! Read the Pyramid Cafe post to see what happened.

Pyramid Cafe- The food was excellent and portion sizes are great. The only problem I had was the morning of my wedding. My husband and his side of the family went to eat but I stayed in the hotel room with my side of the family to order room service so we would not see each other the morning of our wedding. Unfortunately because my husband booked the hotel rooms in his name, I was unable to order room service. I asked if I could pay over the phone with my own money, and they would not allow me to. I explained my husband was at their restaurant right now, and he was unable to go to the front desk to add my name to the permission to allow me to charge to the room. Fortunately, there is a Starbucks in the hotel, so my mother bought us food from Starbucks.

Blizz– My children and I ordered drinks from here a couple of times during our Luxor stay. The smoothies are delicious!

Casino- My husband and I like to play Blackjack and there were a couple of $10 tables. According to the Luxor website there were $5 tables. There are several slot machines and table games. You can see what Luxor has to offer here.

Pools- Unfortunately we did not get to use the pool because it was winter! The Luxor boasts over 19000 square feet of pool.

There is a breezeway you can take to get to the Excalibur and Mandalay Bay. There is also a tram that you can take to get to the Excalibur. We took my kids to the Excalibur to use the arcade.

All in all, I loved planning my wedding at the Luxor, and I would stay here again if I selected an upgraded room.
